Coliseum re-opens on the Indiana State Fair grounds

After over a year of renovations, the historic Coliseum on the grounds of the Indiana State Fair is now open.  State and fair officials re-opened the doors on Thursday with a ribbon cutting.

Andre Lacy, Chairman of the Indiana State Fair Commission calls the Coliseum “The Grand Lady”.  “She, the Coliseum, has hosted an impressive list right here on her own turf,” he says.  “From Presidents and Governors to the Beatles.  I appreciated her iconic elegance years ago – towering above her campus.”

Lacy notes agriculture is a huge part of the Coliseum’s history – and it will continue to serve as a classroom for generations to come.

Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann says the Coliseum is another great way for Indiana to showcase agriculture. “Our Indiana State Fair is such a great to expose so many folks who would never touch agriculture during our State Fair,” she says.  “But now – all year-long, and across the state of Indiana, we’ll be able to showcase livestock and agriculture in ways we’ve never been able to before.”

The new Coliseum’s first event is this Saturday – and this July the Coliseum will host the National Junior Angus show.
