Coalition calls for climate-smart ag investments

A coalition led by the National Milk Producers Federation and National Council of Farmer Cooperatives is asking House and Senate leaders to approve new funding for climate-smart ag practices.

In a letter, the groups say they support efforts to increase spending on conservation incentives, including technical and financial assistance, as part of the upcoming infrastructure-related legislation. They say this would encourage innovative approaches that can help farmers continue to enhance the work they’re already doing to reduce their environmental footprint.

The letter also highlighted the importance of increased rural broadband investments and expressed concerns about potential tax changes.

Agricultural Retailers Association, American Seed Trade Association, CropLife America, National Association of Conservation Districts, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, National Association of Wheat Growers, National Farmers Union, National Potato Council, Produce Marketing Association, and U.S. Apple Association joined NMPF and NCFC in signing the letter.
