Champaign Co begins Farm Watch Program

Champaign Co_Farm Watch Program (2)_webThe Champaign County (Ohio) Sheriff’s Department has launched a Farm Watch Crime Prevention Program. Captain Dave Rapp says it’s similar to the Neighborhood Watch.

“It’s kind of an eyes and ears type program,” said Rapp. “We want our citizens here in Champaign County to call if they see something suspicious, we need to get out that if you see something, say something.”

Captain Rapp says when a theft occurs or there’s suspicious activity the information is forwarded to the Champaign County Farm Bureau for a mass emailing.

“Instead of trying to re-invent the wheel, they already have the information, the emails to all the farms and implement dealerships here in Champaign County, so we provide them with the information and they get it out,” said Captain Rapp. “To us it’s a simple program to set-up, you don’t have to use that many man hours and we’re getting that information out and it’s readily available.”
