Borlaug Dialogue to address issues threatening food security

World ag and food security experts are in Des Moines, Iowa this week to address global food concerns.

World Food Prize President Barbara Stinson says the global food system has been uprooted by unprecedented challenges.

“Huge challenges like COVID, but also the conflicts that have emerged and caused tremendous supply chain interruptions and other issues,” she said. “And of course, ongoing impacts from climate change and really how is agriculture part of the solution and what help do they need.”

She tells Brownfield threats of a global food crisis are ongoing.

“We had a global food crisis in 2008 and 2009,” Stinson said. “The potential for it to exceed the challenges of that time is pretty high.”

The theme for this year’s Borlaug Dialogue is Feeding a Fragile World. The event kicks off Tuesday and runs through Thursday.
