Blunt encouraged about a USMCA vote

Republican U.S. Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri says there’s a better chance for passage of the USMCA than a few weeks ago. In an interview with Brownfield Ag News, Blunt says, “I’ve actually been encouraged by some things the Speaker of the House has finally said on that. And, frankly, I think there are a lot of reasons that the House needs to be paying attention right now to the job that we’re supposed to do.”

Speaker Pelosi has said she would not let the impeachment inquiry get in the way of the work being done on moving the USMCA forward.

Blunt tells Brownfield that Missouri agriculture will greatly benefit from the deal, “Missouri (would be) the fifth most negatively impacted state, economically, if NAFTA just went away.”

Blunt says the votes are there to ratify the USMCA and he expects it will reach the House floor between now and the end of the year.
