Biodiesel availability top of mind at 2024 Clean Fuels Conference

The availability of biodiesel is a focus of this year’s Clean Fuels Conference.

Hanna Campbell, demand specialist with the Michigan Soybean Committee, says biodiesel is growing in popularity in her state, but, “Unfortunately, we’re just kind of waiting for that supply to catch up,” she said. We are working with our biodiesel producers in the state and consumers to make sure when it’s being demanded that we can fill that demand.”

She tells Brownfield more and more farmers have been utilizing higher blends of biodiesel and renewable diesel. “We’re doing fuel testing, making sure that their fuel tanks don’t have water in it before they fuel up with a biodiesel blend,” she said. “Educating them on what does a blend look like in the winter versus the summer, and when’s it appropriate to use certain blends.”

Campbell says access to clean fuels is a priority because they can help reduce emissions and toxicity.

She spoke to Brownfield at this week’s 2024 Clean Fuels Conference in Fort Worth, Texas.
