Big jump in Minnesota egg production

Minnesota saw a big jump in egg production last month.

The USDA says production was up nine percent in July, and 22 percent higher compared to a year ago at 246 million eggs.

The average number of layers on hand was nearly 10 million, an increase of 20 percent over July 2015.

Eggs per 100 layers climbed seven percent on the month and two percent on the year.
