Better weed control starts with evaluating previous growing seasons

Kip Jacobs, a tech services manager with UPL says weed control is one of his farmers’ top concerns heading into the 2023 growing season.

He tells Brownfield’s now is a good time to start putting a plan in place.  “Growers are starting to look at what weeds are present in the fields,” he says.  “Now is the time to start thinking about last year – what worked, what didn’t work, what we would like to do differently and starting to put those programs together.  As I work with growers and my piece of advice moving forward is to sit back and really look at your notes.”

Jacobs says resistant weeds remain a challenge, and utilizing a pre-emergent herbicide program plays an important role in preventing additional resistance issues.
