Become part of the food price story

A spokesperson for the Animal Agriculture Alliance says rising food prices can give farmers a platform to connect with consumers.

Grace Platte tells Brownfield it’s important for the agricultural industry to be part of the narrative.

“Is it the farmer’s fault?—because that could be a very common misconception,” she suggests.

Platte says consumers are interested in what farmers have to say and encourages everyone in the industry to share their perspectives.

When biosecurity measure prevents farm visits, she also recommends becoming active in communities to help break down barriers.

“Maybe you can’t bring the community to the farm, but you can bring the farm to the community,” she says.  “Put your face out there, give consumers a face to relate to agriculture while also being active on your social media page.”

Brownfield interviewed Platte during the recent Michigan Pork Symposium.
