Beck’s celebrates Nebraska expansion with ceremonial flag raising

The CEO of the largest family-owned retail seed company says its Nebraska headquarters will be ready to serve farmers for the 2023 growing season.

Sonny Beck tells Brownfield the location, near the eastern town of Goehner will help provide farmers with Beck’s Practical Farm Research (PFR). “All the things we’ll be testing – different kinds of irrigation to drip to overhead to spot irrigation.  Other tests like population studies.  There will also be studies on whether to spray early or late with this particular chemical.”

He says they’ll crossbreed different hybrids, which will be available at the site for farmers to see. “They can bring farmers in during June and July and look at these tests and watch them how they are growing and what’s important then. If we use a frost test, we can simulate frosting off corn by cutting it off, but we run tests like that.  We even have our wind machine.”

An anticipated grand opening will take place in August during the inaugural Nebraska Field Show in Goehner.
