Baldwin to chair Senate ag appropriations subcommittee

One of Wisconsin’s U.S. Senators could have a great deal of influence on agricultural spending.  Democrat Tammy Baldwin has been named the new chairperson for the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, and the Food and Drug Administration.

In a statement Friday, Baldwin says she looks forward to working with both sides of the aisle to support farmers, ranchers, and producers and on rural economic development for communities that often feel they are being left behind by Washington.

Baldwin has been a member of the full Senate Appropriations Committee since 2015.
