A third flock in Missouri has been infected with Avian Influenza.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture says a backyard flock of chickens in Lewis County has been confirmed with the H5N2 strain.

The 145 birds were quarantined and the remaining birds in the involved flock were depopulated Sunday, May 3rd.

Following USDA protocols, the department says surveillance and testing procedures are underway at properties near the affected facilities to ensure the virus has not spread.

Lewis County is in northeast Missouri.
