Arkansas farmers kick off peanut harvest

Peanut harvest began in Arkansas last week.

The USDA reports as of Sunday, 1% of peanuts are harvested, compared to the five-year average of 5%. 21% are dug and the crop is rated 81% good to excellent.

Corn harvest is 86% complete, 4% of cotton is harvested, rice harvested reached 70% and 31% of soybeans are out of the ground.

The USDA rates cotton 71% and soybeans 73% good to excellent.

Winter wheat planting also progressed to 5% complete, compared to 3% on average.
