Arkansas crops: 82% rice, 38% soybeans harvested

Harvest continues full steam ahead for most crops across the state.  According to the latest crop report from the USDA, 38 percent of soybeans have been harvested, that’s 9 percent behind the 5-year average. 

Ninety-seven percent of cotton is opening bolls and 41 percent is harvested.

Eighty-two percent of the rice crop has been harvested, 5 points behind the 5-year average. 

Sixty-six percent of peanuts have been dug and 28 percent harvested.

Ninety-four percent of the corn crop has been harvested.

Fifteen percent of the winter wheat crop has been planted with 6 percent emerged. 

Fifty-three percent of pastures and rangelands are called good to excellent.

Ninety-one percent of sorghum has been harvested. 

Soil moisture has improved some, 50 percent of topsoil and 53 percent of the subsoil is called short to very short.
