Arkansas crops: 68% corn and 48% rice planted

Despite moderate precipitation around the state, significant planting progress was made in Arkansas this past week.  Sixty-eight percent of the corn crop has been planted, a jump of 20 percent from last week with 45 percent of the crop emerged. Forty-eight percent of rice has been planted with 24 percent emerged. 

Twenty percent of soybeans have been planted, 8 percent emerged.

Twenty-two percent of peanuts and 11 percent of cotton has been planted.

Seventy percent of the winter wheat crop has headed and 48 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Seven percent of the hay crop has had its first cutting and 50 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent. 

99 percent of Topsoil and 96 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
