Alexander hopes to allow online shipping under cottage food law

The chair of the Michigan House Ag Committee wants to see the state’s cottage food law updated to meet e-commerce demand.

Representative Julie Alexander says the law, which allows people to sell products made in their home kitchens without a state food license, is outdated and needs modernization.

House Bill 5671 would allow entrepreneurs to mail and ship products which Alexander says will help those who want to limit contact during the pandemic.

  • This needs to happen, we are one of the last states as a holdout on shipping cottage law goods. Get with the times Michigan!
