AFBF president listening to member concerns

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall has been meeting with farmers around the country to hear their concerns.

“The number one issue I hear all over the country is labor and the importance of the H-2A program, and concerns of where we go in the future.”

He tells Brownfield the visits help him better communicate farmer challenges in Washington.  He says rising input costs are also high on farmers’ list of concerns.

“We do have some grave concerns about next year’s crop and availability of financing, availability of inputs that we depend on to grow that next crop,” he says.

In addition to supply chain and transportation, Duvall says farm bill priorities are also being discussed during his visits ahead of their annual meetings this winter.

Brownfield interviewed Duvall during his trip to Michigan Wednesday.
