AFBF: Congress must support career tech

The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) has called on Congress to support career and technical education and post-high school job training by passing the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act.

In a letter sent to lawmakers, AFBF President Zippy Duvall said a skilled workforce is needed in rural America just as it is in urban and suburban communities. He says the bill would provide funding to agriculture education programs for plant & animal sciences, horticulture, forestry and agri-marketing, and provide funding to allow students to work hands-on with established companies.

The bill was approved by the House Committee on Education and the Workforce earlier this month.
