AEM says trade focus needed without tariffs

The head of AGCO North America says they’re looking forward to working with the Biden administration and the new Congress on trade which is vital to the ag equipment sector.

“To advance polices and to put trade agreements in place so that our industry reaches more consumers and competes successfully in an increasingly tough global economy.”

Bob Crain, on a call with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, says efforts DO need to be taken to address unfair trade and investment practices, but, he says, “The continued use of tariffs to get there, we think, IS the wrong approach.”

Crain says current conditions and sentiment are positive for industry growth this year but equitable, long-term trade negotiations will benefit U.S. farmers and equipment manufacturers to keep that positive momentum.

Crain says it’s critical and their hope that there is bipartisan agreement on trade and other key issues.

AGCO is the world’s largest equipment maker focused solely on agriculture.
