Ad campaigns look to spur decision on E15

Biofuel groups are stepping up efforts to spur a decision on summertime E15 restrictions.

Growth Energy and the Renewable Fuels Association are launching advertising campaigns calling on the Biden administration to issue a waiver ensuring fuel blended with 15 percent ethanol will be available to consumers throughout the summer months.

Current regulations prohibit the sale of E15 from the beginning of June to mid-September.

Minnesota Biofuels Association director Brian Werner tells Brownfield last year’s waiver allowed E15 sales in his state to grow more than 20 percent.

“Which just sort of demonstrates that when consumers go to the pump they really want a cheaper, more environmentally friendly option.”

Growth Energy’s seven-figure ad campaign will include television and digital advertising in Washington, D.C., as well as major biofuel-producing states.

RFA’s call-to-action targeting ethanol supporters and policy makers involves radio spots, print ads, and digital advertising across multiple geographies.
