93% of U.S. corn harvested

The U.S. corn harvest is inching towards the finish. Progress was generally good in most of the Corn Belt as producers shifted their focus from soybeans to corn, but a few key states remain slower than normal.

The USDA says the corn harvest is 93% complete, compared to 88% last week, 96% last year, and the five-year average of 91%.

77% of cotton is harvested, compared to 71% on average.

The sorghum harvest is at 96%, compared to 92% typically in mid-to-late November.

48% of U.S. winter wheat is in good to excellent condition, 1% more than last week and 16% above last year, with planting at 95% and emergence at 87%, both close to average.

The USDA’s final scheduled national crop progress and condition report of the season is out next Monday.
