93% of South Dakota corn, 77% of soybeans planted

South Dakota farmers continue their efforts to catch up on planting.

The USDA says 93 percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, compared to 99 percent last year. Sixty-eight percent of the crop has emerged.

Seventy-seven percent of soybeans are planted, compared to the five-year-average of 79 percent. Thirty-five percent of the crop has emerged.

Thirty-three percent of the winter wheat crop is headed, and 42 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Ninety-five percent of oats are planted, and 88 percent of the crop has emerged.
