56% of Ohio corn, 57% of soybeans good to excellent

The USDA says crops began to show signs of drought stress last week in Ohio.

Ninety-five percent of Ohio’s corn crop is emerged, and 56 percent is rated good to excellent.

Soybeans are 98 percent planted and 85 percent emerged. The crop is rated 57 percent good to excellent.

Thirty-nine percent of the winter wheat crop is mature, and 64 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

The second cutting of alfalfa hay is 11 percent complete and the second cutting of other hay is 6 percent complete.
