55% of Indiana corn, 56% of soybeans rated good to excellent

The USDA says another dry week left farmers hoping for rain last week in Indiana.

Ninety-four percent of the state’s corn crop has emerged and is rated 55 percent good to excellent.

Ninety percent of soybeans have emerged. The crop is rated 56 percent good to excellent.

Winter wheat is rated 75 percent good to excellent with 96 percent of the crop headed and 29 percent mature.

The fist cutting of alfalfa hay is 94 percent complete. The first cutting of other hay is 89 percent complete.
