39% of Ohio corn, 29% of soybeans planted

Some planting progress was made in Ohio despite wet conditions early in the week.

According to the latest USDA crop progress and condition report, 39 percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, compared to the five-year average of 43 percent. Seventeen percent of the crop has emerged.

Twenty-nine percent of soybeans in Ohio are planted, compared to the five-year average of 24 percent. Twelve percent of soybeans have emerged.

Seventy-three percent of winter wheat is in good to excellent condition.
