30 Dairies in 30 Days

June is National Dairy Month and to celebrate, the American Dairy Association of Indiana is highlighting 30 Dairies in 30 Days.  Jenni Purcell, director of communications and wellness for the ADAI, says it’s an easy way to tour one of Indiana’s 1,200 dairies.  “A lot of people haven’t been to a dairy farm,” she says.  “In the past we would have a brunch on a farm and maybe 200 or 300 people would come and we just realized we weren’t reaching as many people as we could.  Now you can visit our website and tour a dairy farm near you.”

Purcell tells Brownfield it’s an opportunity to learn more about Indiana’s dairy industry.  “You’ll see their farm and pictures of their farm,” she says.  “You get a look at what life is like on a dairy farm, a motto that they live by, or maybe their favorite farm recipe or how many cows they have on their farm.  It just gives visitors an idea, really briefly, of what life on a dairy farm is like.”
