2013 Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions
The Sale of Champions raised more than $131,900 at the Missouri State Fair youth in Agriculture Day on Saturday.
The Grand Champion Steer, exhibited by Kayla Morrow of Nevada weighed 1,310 pounds and sold for $22,500.
The Grand Champion Barrow, exhibited by Abbe Gibson of Eagleville weighed 268-pounds and was purchased for $19,000.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb also sold for $19,000. It was exhibited by Bryce Schmidt of Maryville.
The Grand Champ Meat Goat exhibited by Carter Ward of Plattsburg sold for $5200.
Part of the money raised goes towards Youth in Agriculture Scholarships. Since 1992, the Missouri State Fair Youth in Ag committee has awarded more than $360-thousand in scholarships to ag youth.
