18% of corn, 15% of soybeans planted in Illinois

Corn and soybean planting moved forward in Illinois last week despite cooler, wetter conditions in parts of the state.

The USDA reports as of Sunday, 18% of corn is planted, up from 10% the week before and the 5-year average of 11%.

Soybean planting is 15% complete, up from 4% the prior week and the average of 6%.

Winter wheat headed is just ahead of average at 7% and the crop is rated 78% good to excellent.
