Indianapolis lands DuPont/Dow Chemical Global Business Center

Dow AgroSciences HQDuPont and The Dow Chemical Company have announced the structure for the independent agricultural company following their planned merger.

The corporate headquarters for the Agriculture company will be located in Wilmington, Delaware. Johnston, Iowa and Indianapolis will serve as Global Business Centers.

“We’re thrilled that Indianapolis will be a major presence for this new, or soon to be global company,” said Ted McKinney, Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.

He tells Brownfield there were a number of factors leading to the decision to locate one of the Global Business Centers in Indianapolis. Everything from the quality of people, to the current Dow AgroSciences facilities, to the business climate in Indiana.

“We never really looked at this as a really, really strong competition between cities, we looked at this as a way to lift up the company, which I think is the Hoosier way,” McKinney said. “The finality of the announcement confirms that Indianapolis will be a presence, but we’re very excited to have this major piece of the company.”

R&D, global supply chain, and sales and marketing will be concentrated in the two Midwest locations.
