Farm show provides educational opportunities

Fort-Wayne-Farm-Show-2015The Fort Wayne Farm Show director says farm shows are giving producers opportunities to learn cost saving measures as they head into another year of tighter margins.

Fred Cline says while commodity prices have been down – yields in many areas have not. “Whether yields were good for a particular farmer or not – this is an opportunity for them to come take a look and talk with representatives to see what will work best on their farm,” he says. “And improve those yields.”

The Fort Wayne Farm show will also host several educational seminars for farmers during its three-day run.  That includes a risk management seminar focusing on long-term cash rent strategies hosted by the Indiana Soybean Alliance and Purdue University.  To learn more click HERE.

Cline says the educational sessions are a huge addition – but the machinery is still a top draw for the show.  He says it gives producers the opportunity to make onsite comparisons.  “It still is a tax advantage for them to make major purchases at this time,” he says.  “So far we’ve been very fortunate that these sales have been good.”

The Fort Wayne Farm Show runs January 12-14, 2016 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
