The expanding European dairy market is impacting U.S. dairy farmers.

Gabe Papoi with the Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference says dairy farming is global and recent E.U. policy changes are affecting the industry.

“We’ll have Christophe Lafougere from GIRA, which is a dairy consulting firm in Europe, he’ll talk about the European expansion, dairy markets, and what’s happening throughout the world.”

He tells Brownfield their 2016 conference in February will also focus on-farm profitability and labor.  “We’ll have afternoon breakout sessions including one that’s really close to Michigan with Henk de Vor that went through that devastating tornado last year.”  Papoi says, “He’ll talk about his experiences with a natural disaster and what to be prepared for.”

The Great Lakes Regional Dairy Conference is next February 4th through 6th at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
