Milk futures mostly higher, cash dairy mixed

Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange took a positive tone along with global markets Tuesday while cash trade was mixed.

October Class III milk up 40 cents at $21.94. November up 36 cents at $21.79. December up 30 cents at $21.76. January up nine cents at $21.21. February through April contracts unchanged to two cents higher.

Dry whey unchanged at $0.4550.

Blocks unchanged at $2.0525. Two sales were made at that price.

Barrels down $0.0675 at $2.17. Three trades were made from $2.01175 to $2.17.

Butter down $0.0025 at $3.15. One sale was made at that price.

Nonfat dry milk unchanged at $1.56.

The Global Dairy Trade index in New Zealand has its second positive event since June, up two percent.  Anhydrous milk fat was up four percent, followed whole milk powder and cheddar.  Skim milk powder and butter posted slight declines.
