Milk futures mixed, cash dairy mostly steady

Class III milk futures at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange were mixed on spread adjustments, with contracts consolidating at the end of the week. July was up $.70 at $21.64 and August was $.09 higher at $19.07, but September was down $.08 at $17.48 and October was $.22 lower at $16.60.

In the cash market, block cheese was unchanged at $2.575, with one trade at that price, and barrels were steady at $2.40. Butter held at $1.765, dry whey was steady at $.3125, and nonfat dry milk was a penny at a half lower at $1.02. Two loads of NFDM were sold, one at $1.0125 and one at the closing price.
