Milk futures lower, cash dairy mixed

Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange closed lower Thursday as cheese stocks build while cash markets were mixed.

October Class III milk down 24 cents at $21.46. November down 16 cents at $21.27. December down 22 cents at $21.18. January unchanged at $20.97. February through April contracts were unchanged.

Dry whey down $0.0010 at $0.44. One sale was made at that price.

Blocks down $0.0352 at $2.00. Seven trades were made from $2.00 to $2.04.

Barrels up $0.0150 at $2.19. Four sales were made from $2.18 to $2.19.

Butter up $0.0225 at $3.13. Two trades were made at $3.1250 and $3.13.

Nonfat dry milk unchanged at $1.56.
