Milk futures higher, cash dairy trade mixed

Milk futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange started a fresh month with positive trade Monday while cash markets were mostly quiet.

November Class III milk 18 cents higher at $18.68. December up 16 cents at $18.62. January up three cents at $18.56. February eight cents higher at $18.57. March through May contracts seven to eight cents higher.

Dry whey unchanged at $0.63.

Blocks unchanged at $1.6750. One trade was made at that price.

Barrels down $0.0675 at $1.7525.

Butter up $0.01 at $1.95. Six trades were made from $1.93 to $1.96.

Nonfat dry milk down $0.0025 at $1.5550. Four sales were made from $1.5475 to $1.56.
