CME milk futures lower, cash dairy steady to higher Thursday

Milk futures were lower and the cash dairy markets were steady to higher Thursday on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. 

April Class III milk was down $0.08 at $15.56.  May was down $0.09 at $15.96.  June was down $0.13 at $16.64.  July was down $0.13 at $17.39.  

August through February contracts ranged from two cents lower in February to fifteen cents lower in September.  Thursday’s Class III trade volume was 2,081 contracts. 

Dry whey was unchanged at $0.4025.  No sales were recorded. 

Forty-pound cheese blocks were up $0.01 at $1.4175.  Six sales were recorded, ranging from $1.4050 to $1.4175. 

Cheese barrels were up $0.0075 at $1.4275.  Seven sales were recorded, ranging from $1.4175 to $1.4250. 

Butter was up $0.0025 at $2.8425.  Four sales were recorded, ranging from $1.8350 to $1.84. 

Nonfat dry milk was unchanged at $1.12.   One sale was recorded at that price.
