CME milk futures, cash dairy mixed Thursday

Milk futures and the cash dairy markets were mixed Thursday on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. 

February Class III milk was up $0.02 at $16.18.  March was down $0.22 at $16.80.  April was down $0.17 at $17.13.  May was down $0.16 at $17.50.  

June through December contracts ranged from seven cents lower in June to thirteen cents higher in October, with every month after June seeing a price increase.  Thursday’s Class III trade volume was just over twenty-three hundred contracts. 

Dry whey was up $0.01 at $0.53.  No sales were recorded. 

Forty-pound cheese blocks were down $0.0225 at $1.4925.  Three sales were recorded, ranging from $1.4925 to $1.50. 

Cheese barrels were down $0.02 at $1.5550.  One sale was recorded at that price. Thursday was the third straight trading session where barrels were priced higher than blocks. 

Butter was up $0.01 at $2.7275.  Fifteen sales were recorded, ranging from $2.7125 to $2.7325. 

Nonfat dry milk was down $0.0050 at $1.1750.   One sale was recorded at that price.
