Walt Troudt of Clay Center, Nebraska is one of a growing number of Midwest farmers who are custom feeding hogs as a way to diversify their farming operations.

Troudt, who grows 1,100 acres of corn and soybeans on his south-central Nebraska farm, began finishing hogs for The Maschhoffs in 2015.  He says the extra income from the hog operation is welcome, but he’s even more enthusiastic about the nutrient value of the manure that those hogs produce.
