Food security is national security

During a recent hearing before a subcommittee of the House Ag Committee, livestock producers shared with members of Congress the critical role funding for animal disease prevention and preparedness programs play in securing the nation’s food supply.

Todd Wilkinson, a South Dakota cattle producer and president of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, says food security is national security.

During his testimony, he outlined what would happen if a disease like Foot and Mouth Disease entered the United States.
