Jared White joins Brownfield

Jefferson City, Mo. (February 12, 2024) – Brownfield welcomes Jared White to the team as Anchor/Reporter based in Clinton, Illinois.

“Jared comes to Brownfield with years of experience in local radio and as a farm broadcaster,” said Cyndi Young, Director of Brownfield & Learfield Ag. “His understanding of agriculture and passion for covering those stories important to farmers makes him the perfect addition to the Brownfield team of farm broadcasters.”

A Central Illinois native, Jared graduated with an associate degree in Radio & Television Broadcasting from Lake Land Community College in Mattoon, IL in 1999, and he has had a presence on the airwaves of Illinois ever since.

After completing his collegiate studies, Jared worked as News Director, Morning Show host, and Play-by-Play commentator for WRAN & WIXY radio in Shelbyville, IL. He became Program Director and Morning Show host for WMKR in Taylorville, IL in 2001.

In 2002, Jared and his family moved to northern Illinois where he became the Sports Director, and an on-air host, for the Radio Group of seven stations in LaSalle-Peru. In addition to hosting one of the top-rated afternoon drive shows in the market on WALS102, he continued covering high school sports, and helping the newsroom cover local stories when needed.

In 2007, Jared returned to his central Illinois roots where he became the News & Program Director for WHOW & WEZC in Clinton, IL. In May of 2011 Jared was named the station’s Farm Broadcaster.

From covering meetings & events, to riding in the fields with farmers, Jared discovered a passion for telling the story of the American farmer. In fact, his efforts earned him honors such as the Illinois Corn Growers Association Excellence in Media Award in 2012, and Farm Credit Illinois’ Service to Agriculture Award in 2014.

Jared has been a member of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) for over a decade and was twice recognized by the organization. In 2012, Jared won the Editor’s Choice for Exceptional Merit award from the NAFB News Service. In 2017, he received the NAFB News Service’s Excellence in Ag Reporting award, which recognizes the Service’s most used story of the year.

“Brownfield has a legacy of being a trusted voice and source of information for the American farmer,” said White. “I am extremely honored, and grateful for the opportunity to join such a talented team of journalists and ag communicators. I am ecstatic to be part of the Brownfield team!”

Jared resides in Clinton, Illinois with his wife, Amber, and their seven children – Jaxson, Emma, Briggs, Jack, Lily, Logan, and Wade. His favorite activities are cheering on his kids’ sports teams, and spending time outdoors with a fishing pole in his hand. You will usually find him in his Chicago White Sox cap, although he is also a fan of the Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini.

  • Congrats again Jared! 👏 We will miss you. You were an exceptional farm broadcaster. You will be a wonderful addition to this company. Remember, I have over 32 years sakes and marketing experience. Just saying’ 👍😁
