Senators ask China to approve biotech traits

Programs ICON

Two leading farm state Senators are asking China’s Ambassador to the U.S. to have the Chinese Government make approval of eight pending biotech traits a priority.

Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly and Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, in a letter to the ambassador, say they are troubled that the “Chinese regulatory system continues to be cumbersome and unpredictable.”

Some of the eight traits pending approval were first submitted to China’s Ministry of Agriculture for approval six years ago.
