Seed treatments carried their weight this season

It was a really good year for seed treatments.  That’s according to Dan Bjorklund of Syngenta, who says the treatments helped stave off some nasty crop diseases this season.  “When you’re looking at seed treatment, you’re trying to build a really good root system and start really strong with that good root system to build that factory that we need for the rest of the season,” said Bjorklund, referring to the job for which seed treatments are designed.  The treatments primarily go after fungi, such as phytophthora root rot, pythium and rhizoctonia.  These, said Bjorklund, are controlled by Syngenta’s Clariva Complete, which also controls soybean cyst nematode.
