New rail service gives agriculture an advantage

"Cutting" the ribbon on the new Intermodal Rail Road in Indianapolis.One of the great advantages when it comes to business is Indiana’s location.  It’s really the Crossroads of America.  The new Intermodal Railroad Service is being called a “game-changer’ and will make Indiana the center of even more efficient transportation for industries like agriculture.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence says infrastructure is a vital part of the state’s growth plan.  “The official opening of this intermodal facility in Indianapolis is just one more asset that will make it possible for us to take full advantage of having the best people and the best location in America,” he says.

The Governor tells Brownfield there has been a lot of advancements in intermodal transportation – and that provides a big advantage.  “Bringing together 18-wheels and rail in a more efficient and effective way is going to be important to agriculture and important to manufacturing in broad aspect to our economy,” he says.  “This is an important step and among the steps we’re committed to in this state.  I’m someone that believes roads mean jobs, infrastructure means jobs and this announcement is another part of how we’re making job creation job one.”

While the service has already begun, the official ribbon cutting was held yesterday at the newly expanded Indiana Rail Road terminal.
