Planting progress continues in Ohio

When compared to the 5-year average, corn planting is 18 points ahead of the average planting pace, and soybean planting in Ohio is 21 points ahead of the average 49 percent.

The weekly crop and weather update has 52 percent of the corn and 27 percent of the soybeans emerged.

As of Sunday, 59 percent of the state’s wheat crop was headed, with 82 percent of the wheat crop in fair to good condition, a slight improvement from a week ago.

Pastures in the state also showed a slight improvement, with 80 percent rated fair-to-good.

Topsoil moisture at 80 percent adequate to surplus is down from the previous week. The amount of topsoil in the short to very short category is at 20 percent, that’s up from 14 percent in the short to very short category last week.
