Considering sorghum as alternative forage crop

A high amount of corn is being chopped for silage this year because of the drought, but livestock producers are very concerned about getting adequate feed until more is available. If drought continues, there may be reconsideration about what to plant next year. There alternatives to corn that take less water and fertilizer, in other words, they thrive with less rainfall. Chris McCracken represents Advanta US, which is in the sorghum seed business. But McCracken makes a good case for considering sorghum as a forage crop.
