Lamb Board requests checkoff increase

To get its revenues back in line, the American Lamb Board has requested an increase in the checkoff assessment. Dave Trotter of Indiana, Vice President of the American Lamb Board says the decision to request the assessment increase didn’t come easy, but Trotter says it’s needed. Trotter tells Brownfield the proposed increase for producers of two-tenths of a cent per pound and the first handler rate from 30 cents to 42 cents would bring funding levels back to those seen in the 2003-2004 fiscal year.
