Growing interest in high oleic soybeans

Farmers in Northwest Ohio had an opportunity to learn more about high oleic soybeans at a field day hosted by John Motter in Hancock County on Thursday, August 11.

Motter, who serves on the United Soybean Board, says the new traits being developed are needed to regain some of the edible oil market that has been lost and to increase the value of soybeans.

“Well the health benefits of the high oleic are very important to the market,” said Motter. “I feel that as a leader in the soybean industry I need to be up front, demonstrating to the growers around me that his is important to the industry, this is important to the end users of the soybeans.”
