Drive-thru breakfast to benefit 4-H Foundation

The Indiana State Fairgrounds hosted the world’s largest drive-thru breakfast this morning.  Public Relations Director at the fair Andy Klotz said this morning’s breakfast is something they have been doing for about 12 years now.  He says 4-H’ers are “up and at’em” early in the morning helping prepare and serve breakfast through the drive-thru.

Klotz says they’ll serve around 2,000 breakfasts in the two hours they are serving.  He says it’s amazing to see that many people zip through the fairgrounds that early in the morning – but adds it’s a pretty good deal.  In the bag there is a beef sausage, egg and cheese bagel, choice of drink and a ticket for the Indiana State Fair for next week.  All for $3.  Klotz says that’s a pretty good deal.

Joe Kelsay with the Indiana Department of Agriculture says the breakfast is a great way for the 4-H kids to tell their story.  He says the kids serving the breakfast are 4-H volunteers that are get to have fun and show their excitement for the 4-H program.  Kelsay says the state fair is a showcase for 4-H and if you walk through the fairgrounds and look a the exhibits or talk to the livestock exhibitors fairgoers will know that 4-H is a quality organization that instills leadership and responsibility in its participants.

All the proceeds from the annual Drive-thru breakfast will benefit the Indiana 4-H Foundation.
