Some U.S. hog herd numbers unexpected

There is a rather large supply of hogs in the U.S. herd currently, but the latest USDA quarterly report indicates the numbers may shrink in the longer term. Brownfield’s John Perkins talked with University of Missouri agriculture economist Ron Plain to get his take on Friday’s report. Plain explains why the numbers are the way they are and points out that he’ll be watching feed prices and crop conditions between now the release of the next hog and pig numbers report.
