Take care of business in your backyard first

Commentary

Your non-farm neighbors know you and sit beside you in church and at the restaurant and at the high school basketball games, but they might know as much about your farm as they know about rocket science.

These are the people who will vote for your county board members, your school board members, your county sheriff. These are the people who will determine who makes the laws for your rural community.

If your neighbors do not know you and do not understand you and do not approve of your farming practices, how in the world do you expect to convince those in urban areas that you are doing it right out on the farm?

Take care of business in your backyard first.
